Polly Whitcomb has been a working potter for twenty years. She holds a B.A. in fine arts
from the University of New Hampshire and has studied and worked in New York City
and Rochester, New York. Besides showing her work in galleries around the country, she
also operates two shops: Canyon Road Pottery in Santa Fe, New Mexico and La Sala
Pottery in Ribera, New Mexico, which also is her studio. Polly is known for her wax
resist glazing techniques, which date back to ancient China and Japan.

Polly says that working in clay comes naturally since she is from a long line of Vermont
farmers. She also works with the earth but in a different way. You can see more of her
