       KATHLEEN O'NEILL | REACHFAR STUDIO

kathleen o'neillIn 1968, attracted by its beauty, Kathleen O’Neill moved to Northern New Mexico to pursue a career as an artist. She has studied fine art at New Mexico and California universities. After living many years in the Pecos River Valley, Kathleen now lives and works near Glorieta. She is a founding member of the Artesanos del Valle Studio Tour.

Kathleen learned traditional Hispanic tinwork, and takes the craft back to its recycled roots. Using weathered roofing as well as tin cans and bottle caps from around the world, she fashions many exquisite items - lampshades, mirror frames, ornaments, nightlights, shrines, concho belts, and earrings, and is working on a series of tin patchwork quilts.

Kathleen is also a printmaker, concentrating on monotypes, which she often remarks and collages.  Her current series, "Katrina You Bitch" is based on a post-hurricane visit to Louisiana.

Kathleen’s work can be seen around Santa Fe  - at La Mesa on Canyon Road, The Museum of International Folk Art Shop, and Pandora's in Sanbusco, and at Susan's Christmas Shop in Sena Plaza. Her work is in collections in New Mexico, around the U.S. and abroad.

Visitors are welcome, by appointment, at Kathleen’s Reachfar Studio near Glorieta.
